Show Down

Show Down

Aug 27, 2022, Sat — Got the show down from North Valley Art League this afternoon. What a sweaty mess that was. But, lucky for me, it was only 100 degrees today. Practically arctic for Redding. Sigh. I’m so needing to be back in the studio. The skies have been so smoke free that I’m almost regretting leaving in a week. Because I haven’t painted for two! Aug 16 was the finish day for my last painting and it is now Aug 27 and I can hardly pinpoint what I’ve been doing other than it has been constant.

Next week on Thursday or Friday I will deliver the next pieces to Klamath Falls for the show there. Then Saturday, board an eastbound plane for Colorado and Lennon and Julia, with bun in the oven. I do not feel the same intensity for photography as last time I was there, but I do feel an intensity for immersion.

I’m going to try to get a small painting done before I leave. I will compose the yellow weeds tomorrow. Underpaint is on, and it’s only 24 x 30. I should be able to get it finished in time.

Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed, Thurs…. Make it happen girlfriend.

A.L. sent me pics of her bear. A real live big black bear. That’s her spirit connection, the animals. Mine are the trees. The pine needles. The rocks and the streams. I can imagine laying there now, under some trees, or on a rock where I can hear the music of the river through it. Makes me want to cry I am so in need of the connection.

My date tonight maybe has that connection, maybe not. He’s a hot mess. And the sushi? Let’s just say, when you’ve eaten sushi everyday on Ventura Blvd in LA…

Show down. I’m a bit low down. How about a browsing original paintings? Or sign up for my newsletter. I could use a lift up.

Indeed, her paintings are a love letter to this beautiful Earth. In art, her style is called alla prima impressionism. Forcella uses a bold palette of classic oils. She lays the paint on thick so the emotions of her subject come through the brushstrokes as well as the color. Read More…
