July 12, 2024, Friday — Napa or bust. That was my mantra yesterday with a long drive ahead of me to deliver “Oak and Vines” to Paraduxx Winery in Napa County. In Yountville, to be precise. Which is along the Silverado Wine Trail in the Stag’s Leap region. Right below Rector Reservoir to get even more granular. What a cool hike that is! Not that I did it this time around. It was like 104F there yesterday. I thought I was going to melt. It’s one thing for Redding to be hot (113F here; thank God I left), but Napa?! What’s going to happen to that grapejuice?
The first stop on the Napa or bust junket was Sacramento at Giclee Kings, my print shop. Here, I dropped off a new painting (more on that later), along with Maui Sundown, which they are going to de-bar, or would that be disbar, like a naughty attorney? and ship rolled to the painting’s new owner in Denver. From there, I hustled my 3rd gen Priuii to get to Napa by 2PM and back out before 3PM. Hanging the painting and other accoutrements, namely label and biz cards in that interval. Because if you blow that, the traffic becomes mind-numbing. Indeed, I got seduced taking pictures of flowers and vines and stag’s leaping cliffs and didn’t get out until 3:20 hence was reduced to theta brain waves in a line of bumper to bumper cars barely moving.
Busting out from Napa—to the Mayflower!
Finally I broke through and cranked up the tunes to reboot my brain back to beta or at least alpha, and made it to Lafayette where I stayed over at my cousin’s. My cuz is deep into genealogy and showed me her certificate for the Mayflower descendant line that spools back from our maternal grandfather. Actually, there are several lines that lead to the Mayflower, she said. She working on 6 more!! Say, what? I guess when you have 50 people survive the voyage and start the American population, you can end up having multiple pathways backwards to more than one of the first voyagers. I’m glad she’s working on this and not me!
This morning, it was leave Napa or bust. And now I am home again. Sweet home. I love home. So that’s all for today. Thanks for reading and Stag’s Leap ing, Silverado Wine Trail ing, Paraduxx wine tasting, Calistoga spa ing, etc, etc. Oh and never forget the essentials, as in please browse my originals gallery, browse prints, and sign up for my monthly newsletter.
Here’s the piece, Oak and Vines, that I hung in Paraduxx.
