Last day of art class

Last day of art class

Sep 25, 2022, Sun — Class is finished. Finally I can get back to work! Just kidding. Today was day two, the last day of art class with Anne Leveque. We all did another abstract painting today. It was okay. I’m glad to learn from Anne and see how she works. And especially interested in this way of painting acrylics over oils.

There are times when I crave, personally, to work in abstract. Just to work something out in myself. Or because I want a massive expanse of color around me. Abstract is a much easier format to work in super large than impressionism. So once I have enough money from art, or love, or something else I cannot predict, and am financially able to paint bigger than the cargo bay of my Prius, I can’t wait to paint some large abstracts. Just for myself! I probably wouldn’t even post them.

So today’s piece didn’t get quite finished. In fact, I may do a lot more with it over time. We’ll see. I’m anxious to get back to my work. It’s been awhile!! Two weeks in Colorado, and a whole week has passed since I’ve been back home. Tomorrow I am loading and driving art to a show in Orland. Then, Magic Tuesday will finally be here and I can start my next composition. Several pieces are competing in my mind to work on. Napa? Castle Creek in Colorado? Hawaiian Sunset?

You will be the first to know! And for now, won’t you please consider signing up for my monthly newsletter 🙂

Here is the piece from yesterday. And, for those who are speed reading, or triple tasking, or simply to make my little green man happy, today was the last day of art class.

About Lauren Forcella

Lauren Forcella is an award-winning California artist with 27 years of experience. If art was writing, Forcella’s style would be called magical realism. Indeed, her paintings are a love letter to this beautiful Earth. In art, her style is called alla prima impressionism. Forcella uses a bold palette of classic oils. She lays the paint on thick so the emotions of her subject come through the brushstrokes as well as the color. Read More…
