Have Art Suitcase Will Travel

Have Art Suitcase Will Travel

June 24, 2022 — Have art suitcase will travel! Actually I traveled with a simple duffle bag for my overnight stay in Lafayette. Lovely to see Mt. Diablo rising in a succession of rounded hills from my cousin’s deck which has the nicest overlook of the mountain I’ve had the pleasure of beholding. The mountain presided first through brie and cucumber and wonderful chatting, then dinner, when the mountain and gilded court slowly faded from gold to red to purple and into complete astronomical dark, a few stars cracking the not-so-dark Bay Area sky. But not before that final gloaming when it was extra lit up before the purple and red tones took over. I got the full opera again at the first crack of sunrise. There it was, when I was up way too early.

Not sure whether to call this blog Mt. Diablo Made Me Do It, or Have Art Suitcase Will Travel. What do you think? Seems that the former is taking front stage and it’s definitely edgier. But where would my SEO be without a reference to art? Who knows? Certainly not me, I am taking wild stabs. And anyway, I do want to talk about the new art suitcases. I wish I had one in the worst way!

The art suitcases are the newest design in my Contrado Store. I introduced them in my newsletter right before leaving town. To lots of compliments! I didn’t predict this kind of excitement in my line of collectibles, but we are a stuff-loving culture so it figures. Even Rae Turnbull, director and founder of the Orland Art Gallery, saw them and is excited. She wants me to bring merch to her show. She is thinking cups and cubes, and will help me pick out which ones to bring. Works for me, although it is an outlay of money ahead of time. Versus how they are normally sold which is on demand. But I’ll give it a whirl! Maybe throw in a suitcase, too, and if nobody buys it, I keep it for myself. Call me a strategist!

Before I reveal one of my suitcases, a warm invitation to you to sign up for my newsletter. That way, you will be the first to see new artwork and new Lauren Forcella Collectibles from my Contrado store.

Indeed, her paintings are a love letter to this beautiful Earth. In art, her style is called alla prima impressionism. Forcella uses a bold palette of classic oils. She lays the paint on thick so the emotions of her subject come through the brushstrokes as well as the color. Read More…
