April 21, 2022 —
Not much of a studio day today. I woke up to my Instagram business account, which I use solely for art, totally hacked and stolen, the new “owners” aggressively trying to con my followers into buying bogus crypto currency, touting “my” $20,000 success. Oddly, I am still getting ping notifications so I can see some of my followers’ responses to their direct messages.
After doing everything I was supposed to do to report the theft to IG, I left for the studio, but the pings went into ultra high gear, going off every few minutes along with friends checking in on other channels to see if I was hacked, but also others saying things like, “I’ve been wanting to do crypto and I really trust you, so I might try it.” OMG, I have been in a dither. Of course, I have no way to respond or even log in and and for most it was like having my hands tied and a gag on my mouth. Some of the pings sounded like they were asking for $2000. I just hope and pray nobody falls for it. I finally realized that concentrating on the painting was ever so slightly out of the question, so I decided to concentrate my bad day and go to Costco. From there I went home to a long nap. 12 hours later, no word from Instagram.
