Fairy Tale Painting

Fairy Tale Painting

Oct 10, 2022, Mon — I went to the studio to start a new composition today and ended up on the Fairy Tale Painting again. I’m talking about Enchanted Saint Helena. Which has put ME under an enchantment! So I let it have its way and it drew me in again for a few hours.

Maybe I’ll title it Napa Fairy Tale. It’s definitely got a fairy tale flavor and is more expressionistic than impressionistic. By 3PM, it seemed we had found our new repose and I’m happier than ever with it. We’ll see what happens tomorrow.

From there, I moved on to the next piece. Well, the underpaint, anyway. I did a bright warm orange underpaint for a scene from the hike to Capitol Mountain in Colorado. Something a little simpler than what I just accomplished. Famous last words. But one can hope. I could use something simple right now.

But it’s going to be big, so not THAT simple. It’s a 40 x 30 inch canvas. Tomorrow I will do a rough sketch and hopefully start “first paint”.

Night night everyone. Fairy Tale Painting story is over for now. And now a word from my sponsors who invite you to browse my originals gallery, sign up for my monthly newsletter and peruse the calendar of events for a show near you.

Napa Fairy Tale, 30 x 40 in, oil on canvas by Lauren Forcella. iPhone shot in studio.

She lays the paint on thick so the emotions of her subject come through the brushstrokes as well as the color. Read More…
