Day Nine Aspen Trail

Day Nine Aspen Trail

Oct 25, 2022, Tues — Day Nine Aspen Trail. We are back to counting the days, lol. I thought I might get to final paint today, but the foreground proved tricky. No surprise there. I could have chosen a different scene of this same trail where the trail simply widens outward with perspective. But nooo, I have to pick a scene with these huge rocks in the foreground. They are very interesting, but they also compete terribly with the trees themselves. And even with the trail. And they are too big to make “disappear” by dumbing them down.

Although, I could and I might. Dumb them down. Or I could and I might scrape them off and just extend the trail in the simple manner described above. The painting hardly needs this complication. But complications seem to love me. And I love them. And somehow I LOVE this particular complication at the same time I’m frustrated by it. I think there is a way to paint this so it adds to the dynamic of the painting, not subtracts.

My goodness, each painting has its own complex to deal with. For that reason, I’d better get a good night’s sleep. Speaking of which, I could pass out this very minute!

Tomorrow night I have a zoom interview scheduled. That makes me a little nervous. I need to figure out how to hang a painting over the laundry room door so that I have a better backdrop than umm, the laundry room door. I’ve been wanting a prop like this forever. But the problem has been hanging it in such a way that it doesn’t damage the door. I’ve hatched have a plan but it only works for my biggest piece of art currently in residence, which is a big red rose (I would put nails on either side of the door jam). But roses are not exactly my current work.

Or, I could actually put a nail in the door and then I could hang any number of paintings. Is a door as easy to spackle as a wall? No it is not. And It seems like a naughty thing to do as a renter. Behold the solution! I’ll use one of those stickem hooks. O the thrill of blogging to figure things out.

On that note, we are at liftoff. Here on the set of Day Nine Aspen Trail, let’s call it a wrap. May I warmly invite you to browse my originals gallery, and peruse the calendar of events — there are three shows running concurrently right now.

Enjoy this fall painting from my gallery!
