Oct 2, 2022, Sun — What a day five Mount St. Helena! I was supercharged today. I wish I could figure out how to bottle that! Hugely productive day in the studio and accomplished a ton of personal hygiene, lol, AND a ton of admin AND some cooking for the week.
Sharing the hygiene part is surely deviating from the proper English mores of a proper Art Diary. (Isn’t this exciting?) But, here’s the confession: If I could afford to pay for a shampoo and blowout every week, and a pedicure every three weeks, I would do it in a white hot second. Shampooing/blowing takes me soo long on my own. Who has time?? And the results are mystifying. Honestly, my hair looks its worst after I shampoo it. It only starts calming down and becoming somewhat acceptable after day three But with a professional blowout? OMG, it looks fantastic for seven whole days! I just wake up and shake my head and every hair falls perfectly into place. Any idea how they do that? I even use their products. Even better, and furthermore, the blowout doubles as an antidepressant!
When I first moved to Redding from the Bay Area I was so drunken with the low price of a shampoo/blowout that I DID get them once per week. No wonder I succeeded here!! It’s so supercharging when your hair looks fantastic. Then, Covid happened and prices jumped here, too.
On the positive side, somehow I was supercharged today despite my own lame shampoo and blowout. And my own lame pedicure. I didn’t even get to the polish. Hopefully tomorrow I can manage that one. Or those ten. They’re so tiny. And so far away!
Then tonight, continuing with nonstop superpowers, I got all the thank you gifts sent out for the billboard contest qualifying votes. I feel so relieved to have that done. There’s probably a few I missed. It was a bit haphazard sifting through email. I’ll ask for any stragglers to step forth in the next newsletter. Are you one of them? Did you vote? Please let me know!
Oh, did I tell you? Redwood Sunshine took first place in the Highland Art Center juried competition. I’ve posted it below.
Okay that’s all for Day Four Mount St. Helena. Are you happy? Well, then browse my originals gallery, and sign up for my monthly newsletter. Surely that will do the trick.
