Art Blog Sommelier for Art Connoisseurs

Art Blog Sommelier for Art Connoisseurs

Sep 5, 2024, Thursday—About this art blog. Yes, what about this art blog? Scratch that. New title: Art Blog Sommelier for Art Connoisseurs. That’s better. And how this all started was I was in the studio today before the temp rose to 98F and I fled for my life, and after one of the rounds where I “wet myself” in the 5-gallon bucket and sat my wet self for a minute in front of the fan, I reviewed my blog post from last night, the one on the Kachina Woman Vortex in Sedona.

And that led me to review another one, then another one, then another. I ended up taking break reading my blog. Rather big fun if I do say so myself. (Haha.) It’s like reading a journal, another thing I never do. I might write entries occasionally, but I don’t go back and read them. So, while reading my blog, which I call my art diary, I had the thought that maybe—just maybe—I would share my blog occasionally on social media. Or in my newsletter. Key word is maybe. Because there is something wonderful about the fact that nobody reads it. At least so I presume and it is a reasonable presumption.

I started writing the art blog during the pandemic when my webmaster, who built my site, or more accurately put up the studs and then demonstrated how to wire it, plumb it, and hang sheetrock, etc., told me I needed to improve my SEO. Many of the ways he mentioned were so antithetical to my living breathing being, and also to having enough hours in a day to paint, that I couldn’t see them happening without an assistant. But one of the ways was writing a blog. Every day. Wow. I decided to take that one on. And for the next six months, I did not miss a day.

Then I fell off the wagon when Covid weakened and life got ridiculously busy again. So busy I almost missed the pandemic. It was so quiet and productive and introverted. And remember how low the carbon emissions were, and how happy the wildlife was? And how working and taking classes and seeing one’s doctor remotely became mainstream? Don’t get me wrong, God, I don’t wish for another pandemic, but there were things we learned.

What about this Art Blog Sommelier for Art Connoisseurs?

Anyway, I digress. So, I’m back to writing the art blog again, er, I mean the Art Blog Sommelier for Art Connoisseurs. Not every day, but when I can. Like a true connoisseur, a nibble here, a nibble there. Honestly, it’s a lot of fun to rattle this thing off at day’s end when I’m a little punchy and should be asleep instead. Never worrying about editing or anyone reading it. However, the point for SEO, that I fail regularly, is that one is supposed to use “key words” that are searched by the wealthy (as in art buyers). Like this title should be Diamonds in the Soles of My Blog, that would be a lot better for clicks. Right?! Paul Simon. Diamonds. Shoes. Hold me back Kim Kardashian!

Key subjects are even better. But if I have to write on some contrived subject such as wine corks, best engines for your yacht, or best Parisian sommeliers, then it goes back to being antithetical to my wu wei. My poor little dao. Can’t have that. I need to be able to paint in the morning! Plus there are diamonds here.

Gee, if I had more energy, I WOULD change the title! Which gives me an idea…

Okay, whew, wei, gotta sign off. Thank you for reading. Even though you don’t exist, I’m polite! As usual, I invite you to browse my originals gallery, sign up for my monthly newsletter and peruse the calendar of events for a show near you.
